Basics

To complement how I wanted my product to function, I wanted clean, approachable, simple, and easily recognizable graphics. I played with geometric forms and sewing motifs until I eventually landed on MND’s final logo.
The logo is an organic script at defined intervals with a visually even cadence, reflecting the nature of sewing and handcrafting practices. The N in the logo became an easily repeatable pattern that can be reused in other designs.
-
The color palette ranges from dark blues to vivid pastels.
The two primary colors are a dark blue and a pale yellow. The dark blue is useful for adding stability, usually used in backgrounds. The yellow is present in every design, directly correlating with the color of the practicing material.
The rest of the color palette consists of vibrant accenting colors of pink, green, and blue, aiming to enhance approachability while remaining stimulating. Pinks indicate action, helping to draw attention to certain parts of the designs, while the blue and green are reserved for secondary details.
-
I chose Adorn Slab Serif for its rounded, friendly terminals and Ladislav for its strong resemblance to the logo.
Ladislav also has one specific letterform, the lowercase G, that closely resembles graphics within the guidebook, helping to create unity between the guidebook and all other designs.
MND aims to support the sustainability movement by teaching people how to extend the lifetime of their clothing.
